Brinsky's Run Em Over Tank

I talked to a gentleman the other day who is crossing a grand-daughter of Tank back to Tank.

Just curious if anyone has any experience with Tank pups and what he is putting into his pups...speed, hunt, check work..etc

I have had two litters out of Tank, I can tell you Tank puts plenty of line control and hunt into his pups. I know Dan has line breed back to Tank, most of the pups are doing good. It is all in what type of dog you like.

I have seen about ten out of tank, they all hunted fair to good, tight line, med. speed. six of the ten were a little spooky of a gun..houndoger

I have a buddy that drove all the way to KY to picjk up 2 Run Em over Tank Pups. If you like SLOW then he's your sire. Personally I wouldn't have corssed the street to pick one up. I've heard many others say slow to med-slow. I think he gave them both away!

You cant take a super dog and breed it to a not-so good bitch and expect to have the best in all the litter!

I personally feel the bitch has more to do with the outcome of the pups than does the sire. I know I may be in the minority on this subject, but I sincerely feel the bitch has 60% of the outcome of the pups and the sire has 40%. No scientific proof or anything, just raising pups and watching a bunch of pups progress into running dogs, both of mine and friends.

Tank goes back to the FC Wright's Shake line. Nothing SLOW about the Shake line. Most Shake lineage dogs I have seen run are super-hard hunters and are upper-medium speed, depending what they were crossed with!

I have never seen Tank run personally, but I have saw pups from Tank and a good bitch, and would've been proud to own them.

Too many folks are too quick to label a sire when in fact they should be looking harder at the bitch side.

Just my opinion.

I've seen a couple of dogs out of Tank I'd be proud to own. Cream City Point Poe, and Cream City Point Patti (sp?) owned by Ron Ramsey of MI. They are quite accomplished in PP. Like Darrin says, the sire can only give you half, no matter how good or not-so-good he may be.

In no way would i put a mans advertized stud down, When you breed to a stud you are breeding for his traits. And if the female you have does'nt contribute to what you are trying to gain you are fighting a looseing battle. best to best is the only way you are going to get it. GO see tank run dont go bye a few of his pups. there is a old saying,[ you cant make a purse out of a sows ear] good sir, good dam sucess....winpatch

I once heard an interesting way to look at the breeding question. It was said you should take your best bitch and then find the best male you can find and then breed her to "his" sire. I thought about it for a while and it does make sense to me. Just one more way to look at things I guess.

hilbilly this is exactly right. also look at as many brothers and sisters to these dogs as you can find . if this is only good dog out of his litter i dont want to breed to him unless you can show me some good ones on the ground out of him out of some different females. when you breed your not getting that dog your getting his pups so show me some of his pups. if he hasnt had any pups yet i want to see as many of his brothers and sisters. this is a fairly good indicator of what he will produce, never any guarantee but you should put odds in your favor. pete

I think Darrin is close. I think most of the time it is totally the female. There will be some males that you can breed to a cat an it will come out looking like the male plus hunting just like him, but very few. It seems as though the male gets the credit even though his pups come from one heck of a bitch. Most of the time a guy would be better looking for a pup out of a great female than a pup buy a great male. Speaking from experience..lol

Good point NYH. I also go with your line of thought. As I said, I have never personally seen Tank run, but have seen his pups run. I have heard good things about Tank, so what did I do? I now have a bitch pup directly out of FC Flat Creek Joshua, Tank's sire. I'd rather go to the source as to the product.
