Original post strike jump on dog A.
Big dogs post. The dog in the bushes didnt bark 3 times.
The dog on the road did.
Jump on the dog in the bushes.
Strike on the one in the road.
That is the only way it can be scored according to the rules.

Jim I disagree.
If a dog jumps the rabbit, he gets jump and strike points. He doesn't have to bark.
What if he catches the rabbit and has it in his mouth and another dog barks three times first. The dog that jumps the rabbit gets the strike points.
On the other hand a dog can get stike points and then another dog can get the jump points.

I have to ask,did dog A leave the thicket after judge seen the rabbit sneak out and then come back and find the track and start running it or did dog A stay in the thicket as if he knew a rabbit was there and trying to find it.
Mike do you feel as the judge the dog jumped the rabbit or the rabbit scared and flushed on its on?

Re: Little Pack judging ?
If he jumps it and you know he jumped it = strike/jump,if he scares it out and you the judge know a rabbit flushed from being scared out and it takes him 30 secs to realize that a rabbit flushed from the thicket and he hits an already moving track +10 only.mike crabtree wrote:In a 2 dog cast dog A goes in a small thicket and jumps rabbit out, but doesnt know it right away. 30 or so seconds pass and Dog A gives mouth back where the rabbit came out and runs the rabbit to the hole. Dog B the only other dog in the cast was not in the area.
How would you score this?
Depending on how you answer my first question, whether he jumped "the" rabbit or "a" rabbit flushed on its on, if you say he jumped "the" rabbit then 30 secs passed by wouldn't the same dog get credit for a check as well when he did find the track?? curious on how most would score this myself.

Lynn, I guess you are right about the check. I didnt give him a check. The dog definately jumped the rabbit. I thought time was going to run out without the dog getting on the track. I guess I should have given dog A a check as well. That is a very weird situation. I thought I had it right. but still shorted the dog a check. The dog I shorted the check still won the cast though.

Adam,
I disagree.
If they catch one on a jump. I agree strike jump.
A dog does have to bark 3 times to get strike points.
Just because a dog jumps a rabbit doest mean he automatically get strike points.
If he jumps a rabbit & the rabbit runs in front of another hound and that hound barks sight chasing. The dog the jumped the rabbit will be pulling to him.
Check out the rules.
See ya Jim

On Big Dog's scenario:
The only possible way to score it is Jump for Dog B and Strike for Dog A. It's unfortunate and not a perfect world scoring system. But the rules are the rules and have to be followed. You can't give a strike to Dog B, he didn't open. First 3 barks gets the strike, whether its plus or minus.

NO.
A dog that jumps the rabbit DOES get the strike points whether he barks 3 times or not.
Very clearly in the rule book it states: p.17(Orange book) under STRIKE
Strike points MUST be awarded if the rabbit is jumped by a hound.
Example: Hound A jumps the rabbit from his set up. Even though Hound A did not bark on the track, he is still awarded the stike points.
That is the rule!
