He did not give this dog a fair shake, IMO. He "got the dog used to him for a total of 30hrs" then took him out alone and the dog did nothing. Okay, maybe that is it for some, but in my experiences I wait a little longer 3-4 days of changeover time then I take the hound I am trying out with one of my reliable dogs to see what it can do. He has his opinion and that is fine and yes he tried the hound and said not for me, that is his right without question. My frustration came from the fact that he so quickly made his decision based off of one trip to the woods. Again, my opinions, but some dogs don't just change hands well and this may be the case, but he had every opportunity and nothing to lose by keeping the hound and giving him another shot or two to show he is pretty nice hound. His decision and it is done as far as I am concerned. I hope the gentlemen finds just what he is after. :D

BC: I can see your point. From a buyers standpoint however, I can make up my mind on whether I want a dog or not in a very short time. I don't buy them to become life long friends but to do a job. I love a trial but it only needs to be a day or so or a few hours under the right condition.

For all you know this guy could have had two other dogs from other people he was trying out with your dog. Then decide what dog he wanted gave the other dogs back you cant trust anyone no more.

Bring your best and we will run if you like what you see buy the dog if you dont dont buy the dog. But when it goes in your truck it is your dog end of sale. Just like buying a car where it says as is test drive and if you buy it is as is. I have never lied about a hound though because they will always tell the truth.

dogs are like people, they all have personality's. i took a very nice rabbit dog to a state hunt once, now this dog could flat get it done and was good to look at. so first off i put the hound on the bench and he won best male. when we got out on the cast, we turned the hounds loose and they all hit the brush. our little best male came back out and stayed in the road the rest of the hour. yes i could have strangled that hound. cast members were having there fun with me and the dog, one guy said he looked so good on the bench show that he was just still posing and not to worry. it was the first trial i had ever taken him to all the attention, new people and dogs just blow his mind. the next trial he ran without a hitch and is now a dual champion, although he is someone elses dual champion. buying a selling dogs is a head ache. if you buy one you won't it to do great and if you sell one you won't it to do great. if not you should be deer hunting or even bowling or something else besides selling hounds.
let honesty run through the veins of each and every judge at each and every trial at each and
every format.

I would never sell or help sell a dog that i had only seen run one time.
Who's to blame? Sounds like both sides could have handled it differently!
No matter where, when, night, day, strange dogs, new people i want a dog to BUST THE BRUSH!
But some buyers are looking for a Terry Bradshaw at a Kordell Stewart price! I really hope it works out for all
life's to short to let the little things upset us. :angel
