Rabbit Running Boots
I've been using Muck boots for the last 4 years to run my dogs and rabbit hunt. I love the mucks, but I run 3 and sometimes 4 times a week and I developed Planter Facsitis ( Heel spurs) in my left foot and at times I almost can not walk due to the pain. My muck boots make it worse due to the fact that they do not give me enough arch support. I've been wearing my deerhunting boots which have a stiffer bottom to the boot and it feels a hundred times better. The only problem is they are too heavy. I would like to buy a pair of Danners which are light, waterproof and breathable. Something I can wear to run dogs all week but yet give a good support to my heel. Can anyone recommend a Danner boot for me. Thanks in advance....DH
Re: Rabbit Running Boots
I wear the Danner Pronghorn uninsulated boot most of the time. When it get's cold I wear the muck boots.

Re: Rabbit Running Boots
This is an awesome topic!! Was just wondering that myself. I too,DH, bougt some mucks last year n I loved them, but by six months they had all kind of holes in em and were no more ideal for running around in the swamp. So I've picked up some cheap ones here there and so far none has lasted so I'm interested in reading what people have to say! :-)

Re: Rabbit Running Boots
I just got a pair of the Pronghorns. They are the new style uninsulated. They have a toe and heel protector, hands down the most comfortable boot I have had in awhile. Spent the day ankle deep in mud and water and my feet stayed plenty dry.

Cabela's has a new one out in an Ultralight by Meindl, i think, I am going to look into them more. They are very light and 400 gram.
Re: Rabbit Running Boots
I wear the uninsulated Danner Pronghorns when judging or hunting away from water. They're light, about like wearing hi-top tennis shoes. They don't seem 100 percent waterproof though. I like the Danner Acadia boots better, they're tougher but they're a little heavier. FYI- Not all Danners are the same -The Acadia and most of the lace-to-toe Danners are made in the USA. The Pronghorns and Frontier models are Chinese made.

Re: Rabbit Running Boots
I use inserts in most of my boots especially my combat boots and lacrosse because of foot and knee pain. I am in boots all day everyday and after about a month all my boots break in and the support is lost when new. I will say though that I dont buy hunting boots anymore most of the new suede combat boots we are issued are plenty and my feet never get wet with the goretex. They are plenty light and comfortable. They came a long way from the old GI issued versions my dad and grandpa wore. Im a big belleville fan.lebro wrote:i have the same problem with my foot and was wondering if an insert would help with the pain. be sure to let me know if you come up with any help. i was thinking of buying some muck boots but did not know about the flat foot bed.

Re: Rabbit Running Boots
Danner Elk Ridge . i had a pair that lasted several seasons before they wore out. They were 1000 gram so I just wore them in the cold weather. For warm weather a pair of red wing upland uninsulated are very good. Don't knowif they are still making them though. for swamp hunting I wear Mucks .

Lacross makes a good boot. I got mine at gander mtn for about 100 bucks. Good souls, water proof, and durable.

Re: Rabbit Running Boots
dh - i have muck/pronghorns/meindl/lacrosse etc. etc. and my favorites for work or hunting are asolo hiking boots. 520 or 535. they are pretty pricey at $250 but worth every penny. in a taller boot i like my meindl canadians, but they cost even more. if i could find something better for less money it would be great but with meindl and asolo i think ya get what ya pay for.
Re: Rabbit Running Boots
Thanks everyone I will give some of these a try.........Dh
