I feed The pride black bag 24/20 and have feed the green bag as well. Both seem to be good feed. My dogs will never touch another morsel of anything Diamond. I used to feed it and all the dogs in my kennel as well as my cousins got real poor on it. Wasn't lnog after we quit feeding it that they had the first recall and folks had dogs that died. Don't care what Diamond sells, I won't take the chance.

Joeyman, as ive said on every thread for a while, have fed Diamond Naturals chicken and rice for over 4 years now (right thru the recalls) and have really liked it. Hounds have all day stamina "not to get confused with DESIRE as some do" and have great coats. Recently sent a female to NC and was told by the gentleman i sold her to she has the best looking coat he has seen in a long long time. I dont run June July August and hounds dont pack on any weight at all. The only downfall as ive stated before is more stool to clean up (larger) due to high ash content in the feed. I pay $30 for 40lb here in my area for it, not sure which one your looking at. I give it   up.

Joey, I fed almost every Diamond food there is, and I had a pet store, so I know alot about many of the feeds.
Costco has natures domain, which is made by diamond, also the diamond green or black(performance) is very good.
My Problem with Diamond is in the people that run it and the quality control. They have had 2 major recalls in a few years.
The first recall resulted in dead dogs, and they deidnt even so much as credit the price of the food .local guy in ny had dead dogs.
The second recall led to sick dogs and about 20 people in the hospital with salmonella, and for those that didnt have health insurance,Diamond once again really came through and said we are not responsible,so they had to pay their own insurance bill!!
I will try to find the adds I have on these topics..
As far as a decent food for a great price go with the ole roy performance,it is $25 for 50#. I mix it with proplan performance.
Your dogs coats will look good and they will keep weight on, and they will have alot energy.
If you decide to feed Purina, join the club, and after certain amount of feed you will get refund checks or merchandise, I got a real nice waterproof jacket!!
I did not have good results with dog chow, but you may have different results. I also heard from a purina guy, HI Pro may be on the way back.
Also there is a dog chow for active dogs (purple bag) you can get walmart.

PM me if you need more info

Joey, you have a SAM's club near you?? My brother feeds there brand in Lamb and Rice and likes it, his hounds look good on it. If anything, they put on weight to quick.

I have switched to Pro Plan Performance and will stay with it as long as I can. Best I have had, less crap, shiny coats and overall wellness. I feel I am feeding more accurately per dog in amount and I swear I am paying less per pound than I was on Black Gold. I had to feed them like slaughtering hogs to keep weight on them with Black gold(then they crap the pen FULL). Now, just about same in fall, winter(extra when run hard) and less in the summer with consistant results. good luck!!

Dont forget purina has the club to get you discounts, THOSE REALLY ADD UP!!! I buy my feed at Pets Plus and they also have a club membership to save me about 4-6 bucks a bag every time. All of that adds up to me.
